Measuring for Curtains

MEASURING THE WINDOW (refer to figure):

If the curtain will hang inside the window frame on a tension rod, measure the width and length inside the window frame.

If the curtain will hang outside the window frame on a projection rod, measure the outside of the window frame, including wood trim, and include the "return" -- the distance the rod projects into the room at both sides. For example, if your window is 45" wide (from outside left edge of the window wood trim to the outside right edge of the window trim) and your rod will project 3" from the wall, then your width measurement will be: 45" + 3" + 3" = 51" total width.

If you desire more fullness, consider adding additional length, as much as 1.5 to 2 times your width measurement.
